Invitation

Dear colleagues,

following the last World Symposia on Congenital Malformations of Hand and Upper Limb in Japan, Argentina and Australia, it is a great honour and pleasure for me to invite you to the 8th Symposium in Germany, to Hamburg, the city where my teacher, Professor Dr. Dieter Buck-Gramcko, worked for more than 30 years as a hand surgeon, devoting great part of his time to the treatment of congenital malformations.

With 1.8 million inhabitants, Hamburg is the second city in Germany looking back to 800 years of history as a harbour with many connections to the whole world.

With a great variety of cultural activities, such as opera, ballet, musicals, concerts, theatres and museums, but also with an excellent restaurant and bar scene, Hamburg offers many options for each visitor.

Due to the location of Hamburg in the northern part of Germany between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, there are many possibilities for shorter and longer trips to surrounding medieval cities, beautiful nature resorts and to the sea. It is possible to reach Scandinavia by train, boat or airplane in a few hours.

During the two and a half days of the symposium, we will not only talk about congenital malformations, but dedicate half a day to marginal topics, such as vascular malformations and tumors in children.

Apart from having lectures, I would propose we discuss interesting cases brought up by you, either in connection with a certain topic, or in a session called “How to treat”. Therefore I need the active help of all participants.

I will be pleased to welcome to Hamburg as many of you as possible!

With best regards

Dr. med. Rolf Habenicht
